The Power of Hybrid Picking

Published: Apr 19, 2017  |   Category: Self Teaching materials, Technique, Styles

Hello finger-style friend

Not sure if any of you experienced the *amazing* Richard Thompson last night at the Sanders,
but I thought it might be worth mentioning and trying his "pick and finger" style.

Richard Thompson is the only guitarist I know that uses this technique on an acoustic.
Richard uses this also for delicate arpeggios. Check this great lesson on his style

This "Hybrid picking" as it is often called, is usually observed on the electric
Duke Levin, local legend, is a master at it. You can really see his fingers here at 0:25
It is often heard in country, (country-rock, country swing, Hillbilly Rock-a billy)

Speaking of Hill-billy, or Diesel-Billy, or Rock-a-Billy: Check this mom out !

I look FWd to see in class, ChEARS, Bertrand
