Nail Care!

This one goes out to Bob Hogan, who was mourning his good nails this morning.
Yes nail care. Finger-style players depends on their nails for tone and attack of the string.
Have you ever experienced the joys of playing with nails perfectly shaped at the optimal angle
for you, and smoothed to a glassy glossy edge?
CVS might carry all you need but I have included some links for some products I like.
First, feed your nails:
My fav nail food is
not a toxic varnish, but actual food.
Pure Vitamin E oil is also great and will deal with dry, brittle nails, a common problem in winter
Shape and smooth nails from cuticle corner towards the center of nail.
Polish, then Buff the edge to a glassy smoothness with a super fine grit nail file:
Better string-connection, tone, attack less breakage due to nail fiber getting caught.
Look for an even, consistent sound , feel and volume throughout your picking fingers
Micro Finishing paper will do a great job finishing your nail to a glassy smooth edge.
(2000 grit is so fine you cant even see/feel the grain)
You could glue them on those CVS sanding blocks once they are dull.
