On live scoring "The Black Bird" movie this Sunday

Thank you for those who came to the film & concert today. It is always a treat to play guitar live for a movie and an audience. This one was quite a journey, much of it improvised. This crime/romance/intrigue caper was harder to score than the city-symphony film or any poetic films we've done. Also we had so little time to prep.Thank you for those who came. The pianist was stellar and was very present. It was fun to follow the mood by changing a major key melody into a minor. (Try to play Happy Birthday in a minor key . Hilarious!) But we did get to duet & I got a chance to play a few things, like a dark minor version of the Beatles "Black Bird" on a 12 string tuned down a whole step. That was strange and ominous in a good way..The minor key version of "la Vie En Rose " was also intriguing on the 12str. We waltzed the Marseillaise (Sacrilège!!) The end death scream was a total blast: after 5 whole seconds of actual dead-air silence, piano and guitar pounded in total synch massive diminished chords clusters. Very satisfying... I hope we get a chance at this title again. Thank you Harvard Film Archives! Til next time, BL
